Anita Ward

In this final year of study I have worked on many external projects, the majority of these projects were with Auckland based studio Special Problems which is owned by Joel Kefali and Cam Hooper. The company describes itself as “a multidisciplinary creative studio with a focus on video, print and web projects”, although a majority of its work to date has been on these increasingly strange and acclaimed music videos, with the remainder comprising design, video and brand work for everyone from women’s clothing store Max to the New Zealand Breakers basketball franchise.

While working for Special Problems I have put on many hats as animation assistant,  production assistant, assisting with lights, being a suited alien, runner etc. The final outcome has been working on the filming and post production (in After Effects, Illustrator, Final Cut etc) on a number of music videos from Anabell Fay to a charity video for Flight of the Conchords. This work included making animation elements in Illustrator or Photoshop to be animated in AE or cleaning up live film to be placed within a music video and animating in compositions for music vids. I have also worked on all shoot days when working on a music video which would include assisting with art department, looking after talent and assisting with other technical components such as lighting and set-up.
