My project, ChurchNZ aims to connect churches together and give Christians a central hub where they can find out information about what is happening in the church. I aim to create a web-based interactive environment that intelligently shares appropriate information with Christians who are leaving home in New Zealand. This environment needs to be attractive and user-friendly as the goal is to have people return to the site numerous times.
I intend to create a resource that will support students as they face the struggles of finding a new community and keep them informed on things happening in the wider church. I hope that through this, churches will develop a relationship with each other. The Church is divided up into different denominations not only in New Zealand, but also across the world and a lot of them don’t have anything to do with each other. This is not how it is meant to be. I aim to create a unity amongst the churches in New Zealand, but not necessarily create uniformity. I want to create a place where Christians can come together and get input and support from a variety of different places/styles if they chose.
The project will be a website that will provide a premier church finda, event guide and blog in a fun, user-friendly environment. This is the initial foundation to create an entity where there is room to grow and develop. There will defiantly be a strong evangelistic approach to the site, which will help equip and support Christians in their faith and help people who are looking to learn more about Christianity.
Looking forward. Through all the different features/aspects of the site I aim to create a network of media that ChurchNZ hasn’t created itself but will simply be the facilitator/platform for getting this media and material out into the church, with a strong push on graphic design and visual communication.
